10:30am – Noon
Meeting space – Tim Hortons @ 500 Country Hills Blvd NE

Painted by approximately 700 Calgarians in three days on August 4-6, 2018, the Longest Mural in Canada is community inspired and uniquely reflects Calgary’s history. This approximate 2400 foot long mural draws us in to inquire about things that happened as far back as the glaciers, right up to our current day.

The mural designed by visual artist Mark Vazquez-Mackay tells the story of the many points of time that have influenced and helped shape Calgary and the surrounding area into what it is today. Events have been creatively represented to pique our interest where we’ll wonder what occurred during these times, making the experience of walking the fence line a little more personal, interpretive and enjoyable. We’ll remember a little history along the walk and share with you how amazing artists, many Calgarians and supporting companies came together to beautify our community.

We’ll meet you at the Tim Hortons, Country Hills Town Centre, 500 Country Hills Blvd NE at 10:30 AM.

From here we’ll walk north along the west side of Coventry Hill Blvd N.E. to the start of the mural to appreciate the expansiveness of the mural from across the street.  On the walk up we’ll share with you how the mural project came together. Then we’ll cross over and walk south on the east side to see the mural close up and talk a little about the history of Calgary.

Our route is along city sidewalks on a flat route and should work well for people using wheelchairs or pushing strollers.

This community mural project could not have been possible without the generous support from many companies and organizations to which we are very grateful – www.nhca.ca/mural-partner/.
